The reason why we need BITCOIN !!

What should the reason be to own Bitcoin and other cryptos?

I read so many on how to make millions with bitcoin and altcoins and I am starting to realize that many new people just come to the market for making some quick bucks. People tend to have problems with understanding me when I say we are NOT in it for making millions or buying a Lamborghini.

Didi Taihuttu Emacipate yourselves from financial slavery, None but ourselves can freeze our Bitcoin

Then people get afraid when bitcoin dips like it did last weeks and they are afraid of losing a part of there investment and they will sell with a loss. This happens because people only look short-term and don’t understand how blockchain and crypto will change this world. Everybody needs to zoom out and look at it with a long term perspective and understand that it’s not just about making millions but mainly about the philosophical values of blockchain and crypto. Values like FREEDOM, INDEPENDENCY, TRANSPARENT DECENTRALIZED PROCESSES and TRUST.

Once in a while, a revolution takes place. In 1600 the printing press had a huge influence on the world. In 1700 the steam engine was a huge change and in 1800 it was the industrialization that changed the world. Then in 1900 the internet tremendously changed our lives and now in 20th-century blockchain and crypto will bring a change that will be 3 times larger than the internet has brought us.

I respect everyone’s opinion and everyone needs to do what he/she thinks is good, but please take look at the world and the monetary system! Do you really agree with the situation we are in now or do you want to have access to your money when and wherever you want in the future? I simply can’t understand why I should agree with maximum ATM withdrawals or making an appointment if I need more then 10k of my own money or the huge costs and time of sending my money to family on the other side of the world.

Who guarantees us that money will continue to exist as we know it and what happens if we get a centralized cashless society that will be controlled by the parties that have control now. We all know that the world is slowly going cashless and when the time comes that all our money is digital, those middlemen in control can just push the button behind your name and your funds will be frozen or even deleted. Do we really want this to happen? To be clear, I am not saying they have the intention to do this but just saying they could. Just look what happened in Cyprus and Greece a few years ago.

This is maybe the last moment in our lives where we are able to ensure that we keep control over our life and Money(funds). Blockchain and crypto are providing us with the tools to get back some control and prevent that middleman (third parties) will get all the strings in their hands. I think people need to realize that this is the reason to be in crypto and not just buying a Lamborghini. So when you invest in crypto you will be supporting values like FREEDOM, INDEPENDENCY, TRANSPARENT DECENTRALIZED PROCESSES and TRUST. And yes you may also be able to buy that desired Lamborghini but you could also support the poor with a small part of your profits 😉

Schoestress, how to get rid of it ?

So…..

Didi and I have come to the conclusion that we have far too much and indeed our girls too. Because of this insight, we started ‘the big cleanup’ a while ago. Let’s  get rid of all that materialistic shit !!!

Welcome MINIMALISM

Because we are currently staying at a campsite, makes this process considerably easier. That materialistic stuff does not fit in our chalet of  52 m2. Certainly, relinquishing all your stuff is a big change and it does something to you. To give an example:
Mother of the house (I myself :-)) had quite a big shoe collection. I had a special shoe cabinet in our house. One that reached up to the ceiling, with pull-out drawers. The cabinet was overfilled. The thing is that when the shoe cabinet was sold (all shoes had to be removed), I came to the realization:

Damn, why so much?

I quickly put the shoes in trash bags and took them to the campsite to sort my shoes in peace and quiet. I put them neatly pair by pair and this was the result:

On this picture are about 40 pairs of shoes. Afterwards, it turned out that I had more (15 pairs in a closet in the attic).  My idea was to keep 10 pairs of the 55 pair of shoes and that’s it! The beginning was easy. I certainly did not wear half of all the shoes I had, so within no time I only had 22 pairs left. So now to the next step of 1o pair of shoes.

Wow, now it was getting more difficult.  Well, I had to make very conscious choices;) and that was not easy, but I succeeded and check only 10 pairs of shoes. To be honest, when I am writing this I still think that this is a lot because I know many people in the world are happy if they would own 1 pair of shoes. But again we are taking step by step and the 10 pair will probably be reduced some more when I am used to the idea.

And now?

I can say that the first week I had to get used to it but now it feels normal or even lux to have 10 pairs of shoes. Most of the shoes are already sold so again some extra money to live.  The huge amount of shoes I needed to select out of every day, was gone. I can still remember that I visited my mother that week and stood in front of her closet with shoes (my mother has so many shoes, my collection was nothing, hihihi). The temptation to borrow shoes from her was huge, but I did not do it. Shoulder pat for myself.

Now, again a few weeks later, it turns out that I really like this; so much less choice. It is now much easier. No more shoe stress :-). And I know: I can buy new shoes, but I want this: NO. The shoes that I have now are more than enough. It can probably be done with even less, but Rome is not built in a single day either.

I will buy only buy new shoes when the old ones are worn out.

CONSCIOUS LIFE, HALLELUJAH !!!!!!

Love Romaine, minimalist in the making.

Update 3 Minimalism vs becoming crypto millionaire ??

Week 3

So here we are at week three after our first news coming out on business insider. Man, our life has been a thrill ride since then. It’s really amazing to see how life changes after some media attention. It’s a really unusual situation for us and the kids because we didn’t start our adventure to become world news. We are just a normal family that is really relaxed and grounded. But at the moment we daily receive invitations to shoot documentaries, radio and television interviews, late night shows, participate in television shows like parents changing family’s, start to vlog etc. The next step will probably be that someone offers us to write a book hahaha.

But why did we really start this adventure?

The main reason for the steps that we are taking is that we experienced life can go fast, referring to Didi’ s deceased mom (48 years) and dad (61 years). We were running the hamster wheel so hard it almost started to roll with 220 km/h. We felt we needed a real change of lifestyle for ourselves and the kids. During the traveling we discovered we didn’t need so much stuff and that the situation we had been creating at home the last decade was making us noxious. We were really getting sick of having all the stuff and that’s why we decided to sell almost everything. How does it feel to get sick of having stuff? It just makes you want to scream and run as far away possible from your house and all the stuff in it.

Being with the kids

We wanted to stop running and miss out on the kids growing up and spend more time with them now they are still young. We would love to teach them that life isn’t all about having but also about giving and helping each other. There are people in need of help all over the world. We want them to know they are free individuals that are allowed to follow their passions and chase their dreams instead of becoming small robots. That they are in control of their own lives. With the steps we took we hope to set a good example for our kids.

Next step, selling everything

We decided to start selling all of our luxury belongings like our house, cars, electric bikes, quads, toys, computers, clothes, shoes etc. just everything we didn’t want/need anymore. We moved to a campsite to live in a 50m2 chalet with two bedrooms a kitchen, bathroom and living/study/bedroom.

What now, what do we have to do with all the money from these sales?

Put in a bank? Keep it at home? Put it in crypto?
This decision was made really quick because we partly lost our trust in the banks and keeping it at home was not safe (the amount is too big). We don’t trust the banks is a big word but let’s look at our investment mortgage. At the point of selling our house this was less then we invested into it in the last 10 years. Secondly, banks start to ask interest for having savings. So our conclusion was that the banks weren’t doing a good job. If you combine this with the situations we saw in Greece and Cyprus, the devaluating of money in many other places in the world and maybe an upcoming crisis we thought cryptocurrency was the safest option.

The positive part of crypto is that if it booms we will make a fortune, but again that’s not the main reason for the life-changing things we are doing at the moment. It’s just that to live a life we need something of value to pay for our basic needs and we chose to trust blockchain and decentralized digital money like bitcoin.

Another reason for this choice is that we are aware of what is happening in the world. Our belief is that we are part of a revolution of the monetary system and that the current money as we know it will evolve to cryptocurrency. We don’t think we are alone in this movement and that more and more people are losing trust in the current monetary system and the ones that rule it. Let’s be honest they haven’t done a great job for many in the last decades.

To answer the question we received a lot in the last weeks

Question: Don’t you think it’s a bit controversial that you want to live a minimalist life and become a millionaire as well?

Answer: First of all to be very clear. We never said to anybody we wanted to be a millionaire family. We just said that crypto could make it possible that our money could go times 5.  Yes, we understand we can become crypto millionaires, but mind you, we also understand that we can go bankrupt because of crypto. It’s just not the main reason for our decisions we are taking at the moment.

Future

So we hope that this clears up the question of “the minimalist family that wants to become a millionaire”, hahaha. What the future will be we honestly don’t know and don’t care. We live in the moment and day by day. We enjoy every day to the fullest because you never know when it will be the last day of this life.

Minimalism and Cryptocurrency Update 1

First steps of minimalism and cryptocurrency trading

We are still in the Netherlands but we are making progress and we love the steps we are taking to a minimalistic life and cryptocurrency trading.  Our house is probably sold, most of our luxury products are sold and our chalet had some updates so it’s a bit more livable with 3 kids.  It’s a big adventure and we are enjoying this ride to the fullest. Of course, we have some struggles as well because we all have to get used to the small space and it’s getting colder in Holland so outside living becomes more difficult. On the other side, kids love it because it’s cozy and we get to spend a lot more time together. Some pics of our chalet.

We must admit that because of selling everything and lowering your monthly cost there is a lot less financial pressure which makes life already more easygoing. It’s a great and free feeling that we haven’t had for a long time. We were always in the race for work and earning money to buy unneeded luxury. Now we really have time to live and this change is mindblowing. We recommend everybody too look at their life and see if the material stuff really makes you happy.

Because of the steps we are taking we are getting some media attention in the Netherlands at the moment and we want to share this with you. The sites are mostly in dutch but I think that they offer you to read in English as well.

Time to read

Because of the extra time we have now we started to read some books.  We recommend you to read this one. It’s really good and easy to read. The book was written by Mo Gawdat,  the chief Business officer at Google and really changes your mindset on happiness.

Thanks for reading and we will keep you up to date on our adventures. If you want some info on cryptocurrency like the bitcoin we recommend to take a look at www.cryptocoinsupport.com. It really makes it possible to live a free life with a lot of passionate traveling.

Happy reading, trading, and safe travels

Minimalism and bitcoins, selling everything; House, Car, Bikes, Furniture etc.

Minimalism

We are in Holland at the moment to visit family and friends. My sister is giving birth to her second child and we don’t want to miss this. We are living on a campsite in a small chalet. On a beautiful summer night, we were sitting in our garden discussing life again. We have come to a point that we are getting nauseous of having stuff.  It’s time for minimalism!

Past

The last 20 years we have been buying, buying and buying. At the moment we have so many things that we even don’t know anymore what we have. We are starting to change and we see now that all that stuff we bought was short-term happiness. We always thought that having stuff made us happy but in contrary, it made us unhappy in long-term.  Every room, closet, the drawer is full of stuff we never use and we are really getting sick of it. We want to turn around from the materialistic life we are living and start living a bit more minimalistic. And yes this will be a huge step because, to be honest, we spoiled our kids too much in the first part of their lives. For us, the change will be a bit easier than for the kids that are used to have everything but we just don’t want to create materialistic children that think they will be happy by having stuff.

Selling everything for bitcoin

So our plan is to start selling everything we have and start over with less. We think this is the right step for us and the kids but we also know it will not be easy. This process has been going on for a year now and when we sold our company after my father died we started to travel around the world with our kids. At the moment we are home again, as far we can call it home, and again we see how much stuff we have. We moved to a campsite to live there with less because we have decided to sell everything. And with everything we mean everything. Our house, bikes, furniture, car, motor, quad, toys etc. just everything we have except our clothes and a few things that are special to us. The next step will be to invest all the money we receive for selling everything in Bitcoins and hopefully, they will become more worth so we will have enough money for the basics like food, activities, and life! This way we kill two flies with one hit. We all become less materialistic and hopefully, the bitcoins investment will provide us for the basic needs in the future.

Future

We don’t have a clue how much money/bitcoins this will be in total but honestly, we don’t care. We are convinced that the bitcoins will be much more worth in the future and even if it’s a big risk we are taking now we hope for the good. In our opinion, there are worst things in life that can happen than losing materialistic stuff. We just want to create a minimalist lifestyle with less materialism and more passion for life. What minimalism will do with our kids we don’t know. Especially the 12-year-old has to get used to these huge changes because she’s already in her puberty and most friends still wear expensive, clothes etc.

Ok so this was our first blog on our selling everything project and we keep you up to date on everything. We will start with selling the big things and then slowly add everything we have online.

Let’s see where this adventure will take us.

p.s. We loved the minimalism documentary on Netflix.
